Volunteer for HMRI
As a charity, HMRI relies on volunteers to support our world-class research. We are always on the lookout for new volunteers to support of fundraising and research goals. Our volunteers come from many diverse backgrounds, across all age groups, offering an equally impressive range of skills and experience. There are many ways you can contribute to improving the health of the community by volunteering for HMRI.
The HMRI Research Register links Hunter researchers with volunteers, and helps researchers to gather more comprehensive data, leading to more significant discoveries that can affect our health. Team HMRI is a group of enthusiastic volunteers of all ages who help HMRI to fundraise for medical research by assisting with many different administrative and event tasks.
HMRI enjoys the support of an outstanding group of volunteers known as Team HMRI. Team HMRI makes a valuable contribution to the running of the HMRI office and HMRI fundraising events. Volunteers can work in a range of areas, including office administration, public speaking, shopping centre stands, setting up fundraising events, greeting supporters at events and selling raffle tickets.

From cancer to cardiovascular disease, asthma to premature birth, immunology to mental health, health behaviour to stroke – researchers affiliated with the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI) are making significant discoveries in areas that affect our physical and emotional well-being.
However, without human volunteers, many aspects of health and medical research simply cannot happen.
