HMRI’s researchers are made up of many basic biomedical, clinical and public health researchers from Hunter New England Local Health District, the University of Newcastle and Calvary Mater Newcastle, who are conducting the best health and medical research to improve the wellbeing of the community.
With more than 1,100 researchers working across multiple sites HMRI covers a diverse range of health and disease areas, including asthma and airway diseases; cancer; diabetes; mental health; nutrition; pregnancy and reproduction; stroke; and many more. HMRI researchers are world-leaders in their fields and collaborate locally, nationally and internationally to translate novel scientific discoveries into improved health practices and guidelines.
